Phase 2
Pupils in this phase 2 begin to move on to subject-specific learning, in core and foundation subjects (although some pupils may still continue with our foundation curriculum, dependent on their developmental profile). In this phase the curriculum becomes increasingly focussed on the development of basic skills and the widening of pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the world. We regularly revisit learning so that the pupils can begin to embed the knowledge and skills taught.
We have a personalised approach to learning designed to meet pupils’ wider needs, in the classroom and beyond. This approach ensures that the child’s EHC plan is central to designing pupils’ learning. Where possible, pupils are grouped, taking into account their communicative abilities and cognitive development. This way the teaching and learning can be pitched at an appropriate level for the group, maximising opportunities for learning over time.
Phase 2 consists of 7 classrooms altogether, with pupils aged between 9-14.
